New Album "Devolution” Released on Calligram Records!
Dear friends,
It’s been a long time coming, but I’m happy to announce the release of my new trio record Devolution on Calligram Records! It features a set of music written in the wake of some of the most impactful moments of my adult life: the death of my father, marriage, and the birth of my son. It was first conceived of in 2020, delayed by the pandemic and the ongoing business of living (#jazzdad), and finally came to fruition in February at Samurai Hotel Recording Studio in Astoria, Queens. It features the A-list talents of Joe Martin on bass and Mark Ferber on drums. We first played together way back in 2010 at a wine bar in the East Village that paid mostly in wine. I remember riding the subway to that gig and sitting next to a friend who remarked upon hearing whom I was playing with, “Only in New York!” They always sound incredible, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
It’s available on CD and digital download, and for the first time I did a limited run of LPs. You can purchase direct from me here, or on Bandcamp. It just happens to be Bandcamp Friday, so all revenue goes to the artist/label today only.
I’ll be doing a release concert on Wednesday, November 11, at Mezzrow in NYC. Sets are at 6:00 and 7:30, and you reserve seats here. Mark will be playing drums and Matt Pavolka will be on bass.
Thanks!
Dan
